Use-of-Force and Color-of-Law Training
Use-of-Force and Color-of-Law Training
At AIT, our mission is to provide quality training for our clients while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and ethics. We strive to exceed expectations by delivering superior results and exceptional customer service. Our singular goal is to provide constitutionally based use-of-force & color-of-law training for law enforcement and the public that reduces excessive force occurrences and allegations.
The Why
Knowledge: Excessive force is a training issue not a police culture issue.
Empowerment: Empowers officers to decisively use “objectively reasonable” force.
Public Trust: Enhances public trust by reducing actual and alleged excessive uses- of-force.
Due Diligence: The average civil settlement is 650K and often results in removal of department heads. Training demonstrates departmental and municipal due diligence.
The Training:
Our training program includes discussion of Deprivation of Rights, Conspiracy, Obstruction, and other violations with a focus on the 4th Amendment as it is the most frequently violated.
Objective reasonableness, less than lethal and deadly force, and how uses of force are evaluated using the Graham Factors are taught; In addition, the Duty-to-Intervene, Qualified Immunity, Landmark cases and other essential concepts are taught.
This interactive training uses the instructor’s experiences, case studies, video examples, group discussions, and knowledge checks, and is designed to facilitate robust discussions and an interactive adult learning experience that demystifies use-of-force and color-of-law.
